In my living room: Table made of good old pallets
Here's how you do it:

| Buy/find/get two pallets (the ones we found were quite "new". I recommend looking for some that are more "used" so that they have a more natural grey colour. That gives the perfect look). Use sandpaper to polish rough surface / edges. |
Paint them in a colour of your choice (optional - you can leave them natural, as in the pic below!)
Stick the two pallets together with a hammer and nails..
Put four wheels on (these are from Clas Ohlson)
...and VOILA!
...you have a charming coffee-table made by you!
